In the past few years, the small space movement has taken the interior design industry by storm. It has challenged us to look at the way we live and created a whole new meaning to space-saving and space-maximizing.
Beginning with Dean Nota’s Olivares Residence from the Home Tours, the InsideSeen Design Team saw examples of small space living at Dwell on Design, America’s largest design convention.
Space-Maximizing Furniture for Small Spaces:
In the Make it Right home, interior designer Courtney Lake chose Italian design house CLEI to furnish the guest and children’s bedrooms.
Their furniture, available in the United States from Resource Furniture, transforms in seconds from desks or sofas into bunk or double beds.
Wall Panels for Small Spaces:
Sliding wall panels were an additional Dwell on Design trend. Companies such as Open|Close Doors, Portal Doors, and Raydoor allow you to create rooms and redirect the flow of designs, all with sliding panels.
Wall panels range from simple and sophisticated to artful and creative, providing one more space to express yourself in your designs.
Stackable Furniture:
Beyond multi-purpose furniture and space dividers, anything stackable is ideal for small spaces. Whether it’s Bend Goods‘s stackable chairs or Lounge 22’s stackable table and chairs, these types of products can be condensed for day-to-day living, but serve as extra furniture when needed.
